Tehran, Iran – On October 30, at the closing ceremony of the second edition of the Technology Olympiad held at the Iran International Innovation District (IIID), Morteza Saffarinia, President of Pardis Technology Park, highlighted the event’s role as an international showcase of Iran’s technological capacity and a platform linking emerging innovators with advanced industries.

Saffarinia noted that while the first Olympiad hosted around 6,000 participants, this year over 12,000 people from Iran and abroad joined the competition, with 1,100 participating in the final stage. More than 1,000 attendees came from other countries, with 64 reaching the finals.

Competitions spanned six domains: cybersecurity, combat robotics, artificial intelligence, programming, internet of things, and drone technology. Programming attracted the highest number of contestants, with 5,000 participants across four leagues. The combat robotics segment featured heavyweight, lightweight, and student leagues at the national level, while drones and IoT remained national this year but are expected to adopt a more international scope in future editions.

Saffarinia reported extensive media coverage — over 200 written reports and 130 broadcast items, with 60 journalists from seven countries attending on-site, generating significant global visibility.

One major program goal was career development: over 200 job opportunities were introduced by 60 companies during the four-day event. In parallel, university and industry tours strengthened networking between young talent and established enterprises.

He praised the precision and transparency of judging, with live score displays during contests ensuring full public visibility. Saffarinia concluded by expressing gratitude to private sector partners and organizing teams whose efforts ensured a well-structured, content-rich, and impactful week of competition.
