Establishing a Branch of Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University in IIID
Iran and Russia Sign MoU for Academic Cooperation

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for establishing a branch of Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University in Iran’s International Innovation District (IIID) was signed, allowing Iranian students to pursue dual degrees from both universities.
Iran’s International Innovation District (IIID) signed an MoU with Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University and Iran University of Science and Technology to establish a local branch in Iran. This initiative enables Iranian master’s students to earn dual degrees from both institutions, fostering academic and technological collaboration.
Mojtaba Jabari-Pour, Deputy for Innovation Development at Pardis Technology Park (PTP), emphasized that the agreement aligns with Article 22 of the Cabinet’s resolution supporting IIID’s international outreach. He noted, “This partnership allows students to study as members of both Iranian and Russian universities within IIID, enhancing global cooperation.”
Mehdi Basati-Panah, Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University’s representative, highlighted the institution’s long-standing expertise and stated that establishing a branch in Iran will facilitate student training and technology transfer between the two countries. He added, “Hosting international universities in Iran not only prevents capital outflow but also offers the appeal of European education. Other universities have also expressed interest in similar collaborations.”
Reza Golshan, Director of Scientific and International Collaboration at Iran University of Science and Technology, elaborated on the partnership’s potential. The meeting concluded with a presentation on IIID activities and a tour of member companies.
