Record Participation – AI Text and Image Contests Intensify at IIID

At the Iran International Innovation District (IIID), the 2025 Technology Olympiad’s AI competitions in text and image processing reached new heights in participation, prompting organizers to extend the event from one to two days.

Mehdi Kordbacheh, project manager for the AI programming competitions, said interest in AI-related challenges has surged, with registrations tripling compared to last year. Key new features this year include API key integration, interaction with large language models (LLMs), GPU usage, expanded infrastructure, advanced event visualization, and online judging of participant-designed AI agents.

Image Processing Track:
Training began in August, with a preliminary stage held on October 2, 2025. A dedicated webinar covered technical, psychological, and strategic points for finalists. Today, 35 teams competed in person, with final judging by three leading university professors to determine the top three teams by evening.

Text Processing Track:
This track also started training in August, offering 5–6 hours of specialized instruction. Its preliminaries were held alongside the image track on October 2, followed by a supplemental webinar on October 10. Out of 794 registrants, 40 teams reached the in-person finals. Judging is conducted online through AI agent competitions, ranking eight top teams at the end.

Overall Statistics:
A total of 162 participants were on site today, with 40 teams in the text track and 42 in image. The average age is between 21 and 24 years, mostly university students, with no foreign teams in these contests. Competitions will continue until late afternoon, after which judging and final results will be announced.
