Tehran, Iran – On October 29, the heavyweight division of robot combat at the 2025 Technology Olympiad delivered a day of high-adrenaline clashes inside a steel cage arena at the Iran International Innovation District (IIID), where precision engineering met raw destructive power — and one match ended in just 30 seconds.

Crowds packed the main robot arena to witness intense battles between four heavyweight teams: Diako, University of Science and Technology 1, University of Science and Technology 2, and Gando. Following safety protocols, the upper tiers of the venue were evacuated due to potential flying debris, and spectators gathered around the main cage for an up-close view.

In one highlight match, Gando — a 60-kilogram robot from Kerman with a vertical spinner weapon capable of nearly 5,500 rpm and delivering 3 kW power — faced University of Science and Technology’s tactical red machine. After several explosive collisions and metal-shearing impacts, Gando triumphed in a three-minute bout.

The final heavyweight clash between Gando and Diako showcased top-tier engineering. Just seconds into the match, Diako delivered a calculated and forceful hit that destabilized Gando, prompting the referee to call a technical knockout. The bout ended in only 30 seconds, sealing Diako’s victory.

Technical details of Gando, including its steel chassis with variable thickness plates (2–8 mm) and 12 kg striking mass, underline the competition’s advanced engineering standards. The combination of powerful weaponry and robust construction made each impact a spectacle.

Heavyweight finals will continue tomorrow, October 30, at IIID, where the remaining contenders will battle for championship glory.
