IIID-Based Firm Pioneers Positioner Manufacturing After Mastering Repairs

Tehran, July 21, 2025 – Vira Control Precision Instruments Development, a company within the Iran International Innovation District (IIID), has become Iran’s sole knowledge-based manufacturer of industrial positioners by leveraging extensive experience gained from repairing the devices. Their product not only matches the quality of foreign counterparts but also rectifies their inherent design flaws.

The company’s journey, led by CEO Saeed Shafiei, began unconventionally. After a previous venture with high-quality electric bicycles failed due to a lack of market awareness, his team pivoted to the industrial services sector, focusing on the maintenance of control valve positioners. “We made service our launchpad,” Shafiei explained. “We inspected and repaired over 1,400 positioners from various brands. That experience became our greatest asset for designing and producing a domestic model.” After two years of specialized service, the company developed its own positioner. Its key feature was the elimination of recurring faults they had identified in foreign models. The prototype was successfully deployed at a gas pressure boosting station and has since proven its superiority. “In sensitive industries like oil, gas, mining, and power plants, our devices have not only replaced multi-thousand-dollar foreign brands but have also shown better performance in harsh climates,” Shafiei added. “We produced a device that works for two years without recalibration, whereas a well-known European brand failed after six months under the same conditions in an Ahvaz power plant.” He concluded that their unique path—starting with repairs to understand market needs before manufacturing—has been the key to producing a globally competitive product.
