IIID, NIOC Sign Research and Technology Deal to Advance Smart Drilling Systems

In a move toward digital transformation of the oil industry, Iran National Oil Company (NIOC) and the Iran international innovation district (IIID) signed a research and technology agreement focusing on integrated drilling data management and advanced analytics to enhance decision-making across the oil and gas value chain.

The research and technology contract was signed by Seyed Mahdia Motahari, Director of Research and Technology at Iran National Oil Company, and Mojtaba Jabarpour, Vice President for Innovation Development at Pardis Technology Park.

The agreement centers on designing a conceptual model and defining the scope of services for developing integrated information systems, as well as implementing an integrated drilling data management system on the monitoring and data analytics platform of Iran National Oil Company.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Petroleum attended the signing ceremony, underscoring the strategic importance of data-centric solutions for the future of Iran’s oil industry.

The collaboration aims to strengthen data-driven infrastructure, enhance real-time monitoring and analysis of drilling operations, and create advanced technological tools to support more accurate and timely decision-making. These measures are expected to improve productivity, reduce operational risks, and accelerate the transition toward a smart oil industry.

Signed as part of Oil Industry Research Day programs, the agreement leverages the innovation ecosystem and the capabilities of technology companies operating within IIID, offering a new model for collaboration between national energy players and innovation-driven institutions.
