Tehran, Iran - The head of Iran’s Food and Drug Administration emphasized liquidity and currency supply as critical challenges for medical equipment manufacturers at the Iran Health Exhibition 2025.

On June 7, 2025, during the opening of the 26th Iran Health Exhibition in Tehran, Dr. Mehdi Pirsalehi, Deputy Minister of Health and Head of Iran’s Food and Drug Administration, addressed the multifaceted challenges facing medical equipment producers. He highlighted that liquidity remains a core issue, alongside difficulties in securing foreign currency for spare parts and raw materials, hampering production growth.

Dr. Pirsalehi stressed the need for practical support from banking and economic institutions to achieve a production leap, especially in a year designated for investment in production. He underscored the importance of balancing quality with innovative technologies and adhering to stringent standards, noting that medical products must pass rigorous quality, technical, pre-clinical, clinical, and regulatory checks to gain market entry as domestically produced goods.

He also pointed to the adverse impact of currency rate fluctuations on companies, urging collaboration with the Central Bank and other authorities for financial and credit support. Beyond the domestic market, he advocated for an export-oriented approach targeting regional and neighboring markets, alongside reforms in regulatory laws to foster company growth.

Additionally, Dr. Pirsalehi noted a special initiative by the Iranian Syndicate of Medical Equipment Exporter, with a service desk set up at their pavilion during the four-day event to address industry challenges and needs. The exhibition, hosting 580 companies across 11 halls, continues until June 10, 2025, at the Tehran International Exhibition Center, featuring 45 specialized sessions and a pavilion for returning Iranian elites.
