A strategic meeting between Saba Power and Energy Group and the Iran international innovation district (IIID) brought together senior executives and knowledge-based companies to align the country’s power sector demands with innovation capacities based at Pardis Technology Park (PTP).

The meeting, held on 5 January 2025, focused on identifying cooperation opportunities between Saba Power and Energy Group and the Iran international innovation district (IIID), with participation from executives of Saba, Pardis Technology Park (PTP), and Daneshmand Institute, alongside knowledge-based companies.

At the opening of the session, Ahmad Asgari, Director General for Investment and Technology Localization at Pardis Technology Park, highlighted the park’s core mission in addressing industrial needs. He noted that reducing market risks for knowledge-based companies and facilitating their engagement with large industries are among PTP’s key responsibilities. Given the high costs of research and development, the park aims to smooth commercialization pathways through structured industry-connection programs.

Referring to the scale of Saba Power and Energy Group, Asgari stated that the holding operates around ten power plants, supplying nearly six percent of Iran’s electricity. The session introduced the technological capabilities of PTP-based companies to power plant managers while clearly communicating the industry’s technological needs, paving the way for cooperation contracts and technology procurement.

Emphasizing domestic manufacturing, Issa Nourani-Far, Chairman of Saba Power and Energy Holding, described the meeting as a foundation for long-term partnerships. He underlined that, under sanction-related constraints, collaboration with knowledge-based companies is essential for localizing power plant components and equipment, particularly in maintenance, repair, and energy efficiency.

Nourani-Far expressed hope that specialized Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) would soon formalize cooperation between Saba Holding and IIID.

From a market-driven perspective, Mojtaba Soroush-Pour, Deputy for Promotion and Innovation at Daneshmand Institute, explained that by articulating real industrial demands, the commercialization timeline for technologies can be significantly shortened—contributing to first-of-its-kind production, self-reliance, and overcoming sanction bottlenecks.

The meeting concluded with a site tour by Saba executives of IIID’s development phases and direct discussions with technology company leaders—interactions expected to lead to operational collaborations and joint contracts in the near future. ض
