The head of Mustafa (pbuh) Prize scientific working group said that the 2023 award will be granted to Prof. Ahmed E. Hassan and Prof. Omid C. Farokhzad as non-resident laureates and Prof. Samia J. Khoury, Prof. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail and Prof. Murat Uysal as prize laureates from Islamic Countries.

Ali Akbar Salehi said that Ahmed E. Hassan, Professor, Queen's University, Canada with his work ‘Mining Software Repositories (MSR)’ in the field of Information and Communication Science and Technology and Omid C. Farokhzad, Senior Lecturer, Harvard Medical School, USA with his work ‘Design, Development, and Clinical Translation of Novel Polymeric Nanomedicines’ in the field of Life and Medical Science and Technology are two laureates of the 5th Mustafa (pbuh) Prize.

He added that Samia J. Khoury, Professor, American University of Beirut, Lebanon with her work ‘Novel Approaches for the Care of MS Patients: Pathogenesis and Mechanisms of Regulation and Tolerance’ in the field of Life and Medical Science and Technology, Ahmad Fauzi Ismail, Professor and Vice-chancellor, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with his work ‘Development of Membrane Technology Applications’ in the field of Basic and Engineering Sciences and Murat Uysal, Professor, New York University Abu Dhabi, UAE with his work ‘Optical Wireless Communication (OWC) Technology’ in the field of Information and Communication Science and Technology are the resident laureates.

The award is based on science and the scientist, a scientist who has contributed to the well-being of humanity and has been useful in various fields, has moved in line with the frontiers of knowledge and has achieved useful technology, he stated.

A scientist must have a good reputation, master technical skills, have strong communication skills, be motivated, and enthusiastic.

Mustafa (pbuh) Prize is selected in 4 fields of science and communication and information technology, biological and medical science and technology, science and nanotechnology, and basic science and engineering.

470 cases were filed in the field of information and communication science and technology (266 resident scientists and 204 non-resident scientists) and 640 cases in the field of biological and medical science and technology (178 resident scientists and 462 non-resident scientists).

In addition, 1,503 cases were reviewed in the fields of science and nanotechnology, basic sciences and engineering (846 resident scientists and 657 non-resident scientists) at Mustafa Science and Technology Foundation.
