At the Iran International Innovation District (IIID), thrilling combat robot competitions in three specialized leagues — lightweight, heavyweight, and student — have kicked off in the second Technology Olympiad, with elite university and school teams from across Iran showcasing the power, speed, and creativity of their machines.

The morning session on October 27, 2025, launched the lightweight league, followed by heavyweight robots in the afternoon and the student league set for Wednesday, October 28.

Combat matches last four minutes and use a double-elimination format. Teams average eight members, with two operating the robot.

Mohammadreza Fallah, secretary of the combat robot competition, said day two will feature 23 student teams, and day three will open the heavyweight league. Semi-final and final matches for all three leagues will be held on the closing day of the Olympiad.

These contests aim to promote creativity, engineering skills, and the development of advanced robotics technologies in Iran, giving young innovators a platform to present their scientific and technological capabilities to the world.
