VP for Scientific, Technological and Knowledge-Based Economy says IIID will host over 1,100 participants from 16 countries in six advanced technology competitions.
IIID to Host Second Technology Olympiad with Global Elite Competitors
According to Vice President Hossein Afshin, the Iran International Innovation District (IIID) will stage the second edition of the Technology Olympiad, bringing together more than 1,100 participants from 16 countries to compete in six specialized technology fields, including programming, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, Internet of Things, combat robots, and drones.
The final stage will welcome teams from Pakistan, Oman, Russia, Vietnam, Turkey, Tunisia, Iraq, Bangladesh, Azerbaijan, India, Lebanon, Indonesia, Romania, Algeria, and the Netherlands, alongside Iranian specialists, between November 26 and 29, 2025 at IIID and Pardis Technology Park.
Afshin highlighted that the preliminary stage drew over 12,000 participants from 65 countries — a record for West Asia and nearly double the figures of the previous edition. In programming alone, 5,610 participants took part across four leagues: front-end, Python/Django, algorithms, and Golang. The AI category attracted 3,567 participants from three leagues focusing on text, data, and image processing, while cybersecurity brought in 2,008 competitors in hardware and software CTF challenges and Pwny Racing.
Domestic innovators will compete in IoT, autonomous group drones, and combat robots. Preparations for these contests involved months of specialized training, workshops, and qualification rounds.
One of the event’s unique features is the Workstation section, designed to connect participants with job opportunities in knowledge-based and technology-driven companies. Profiles will be created for all finalists, accompanied by a job opportunities booklet, and on-site interview sessions will match candidates with potential employers.
Afshin noted that the Olympiad is more than a contest — it’s a national initiative to identify, nurture, and deploy technological talent for major national projects, foster genuine job creation in Iran’s innovation ecosystem, and counter non-scientific trends by applying international benchmarks to evaluate domestic expertise.
