Iran CONMINE Panels Stress Surge In Mine Industry Relying On Domestic Technologies
In two specialized panels which were held in the presence of representatives of the mining industry and innovation ecosystem activists by Iran International Innovation District and on the sidelines of the 18th International Exhibition for Mines, Mining, Construction Machinery & Related Industries & Equipment (Iran CONMINE), the need for greater cooperation between these two sectors was emphasized to develop domestic technologies and meet the needs of the mining industry.
At the same time as 2024 Iran CONMINE, two specialized panels on the challenges and cooperation capacities of the mining industry and the innovation ecosystem were held by Iran International Innovation District.
In the first panel, on cooperation capacities of the mining industry and the innovation ecosystem, Mohsen Pilan Nejad, Director General of Pardis Technology Park for Planning and Economic Affairs, referred to the capacities of Iran International Innovation District and the government's approvals to facilitate the commercialization of technology in IIID
He also stressed the importance of IIID in the development of technologies.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Asgari, Director General of Pardis Technology Park for Technology Investment and Indigenization, also referred to the capacity of more than 10,000 knowledge-based companies in the country, saying that about 30% of these companies have the capacity to help this industry in the mining industry.
In the meantime, Iman Ayani, Director General of the Innovation and Technology Companies Office of the Scientific Vice Presidency for scientific, technological and knowledge-based economy affairs pointed to the possibility created by the law of surge in knowledge-based production regarding the industry's use of tax credits in research and investment contracts in knowledge-based companies.
This law is an important step towards developing industry-university cooperation, he stated.
In the second panel, on the challenges of cooperation between the mine industry and the innovation ecosystem, the representatives of the country's major mining companies, including Hamidreza Karbalaiyan from Iran Central Iron Ore Company, Mir Sina Amir Shenava from Chadormalou and Mehdi Haj Esmailzadeh from National Iranian Copper Industry Company, expressed the challenges in the mining industry and solutions.
The most important challenges defining technological needs in the industry, the reduction of mining grades and the increase of energy prices, the risk-taking of the industry in acquiring foreign technologies, and the need to create a culture of innovation in organizations.
