Recently, Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU), alongside Pardis Technology Park (PTP), opened recruitment for a joint international Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering.

The collaborative initiative aims to establish a structured academic pathway in the energy sector, leveraging the scientific and technological capacities of both Iran and Russia. According to Sajjad Abbasi Fashami, Director General for Innovation Cluster Promotion and Development at PTP, the program is currently open exclusively to international applicants.

Key operational features and structural details of the program include:

  • Dual-Country Structure: Students complete their first year at the International Universities Hub (IUH) located at PTP in Iran, followed by their second year at SPbPU in Russia.
  • Industry Integration: The curriculum emphasizes applied projects, technical collaboration, and internships with active technology companies operating within the innovation ecosystem.
  • Joint Academic Oversight: The research and thesis phases are conducted with the academic participation of both universities, bridging higher education with real-world industrial challenges.
  • Admission Details: Taught entirely in English, the program targets international students with an initial planned intake capacity of at least 20 students.

Abbasi Fashami noted that this model is designed to strengthen the connection between higher education and industrial demands while fostering long-term scientific cooperation between the two nations.
