Knowledge-Based Pharmaceutical Production at IIID: Advancing Patient Care Through Innovation

On Pharmacy Day, the Iran International Innovation District (IIID) showcased achievements of its more than 50 member companies in pharmaceuticals and advanced therapeutic products. These knowledge-based enterprises are delivering innovative solutions to meet domestic medical needs, cut reliance on imports, and strengthen Iran’s position in the global health market.

Pharmacy Day serves as a reminder of the vital contributions made by Iranian pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists, who persevere in the face of challenges to provide cutting-edge treatments for patients. At IIID, over 50 active pharmaceutical companies are producing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic solutions, representing a model of synergy between science and industry in pursuit of public health.

The range of products developed within IIID is extensive: large-scale probiotic formulations, infertility treatments, anti-cancer drugs, pediatric medicines and supplements, and specialized nutritional products. In addition to meeting local demand, these innovations prevent significant capital outflow by replacing imports with domestically made medicines.

Member companies have also achieved notable milestones, including the indigenization of drug production lines, development of active pharmaceutical ingredients from medicinal plants, manufacturing of rare and specialty drug compounds, and advances in personalized medicine.

Beyond production, these pharmaceutical companies participate actively in major health sector exhibitions, such as the Iran Health Exhibition and Iran Pharma, where they showcase their achievements, expand market reach, and foster international partnerships.

Pharmacy Day thus honors the perseverance of health innovators at IIID—professionals whose resolve and productivity endure regardless of economic hardship or global crises.

Recognized for its strategic role in the health sector, the Ministry of Health has granted IIID the designation of Pardis Health Technology Park, one of its core and impactful divisions. Alongside drug development, companies in this ecosystem are contributing to medical devices and digital health technologies, reinforcing IIID’s position as one of the largest health innovation hubs in the country.
