Mustafa Prize Laureate Bags 19 Int’l Prestigious Awards
The prominent scientist in the Islamic World and the 2015 Mustafa Prize Laureate Professor Omar Yaghi has received 19 international prestigious awards.
Yaghi has so far received the 2016 Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), the 2017 Spiers Memorial Award, the King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein Order of Distinction (2017), the 2017 Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry (JSCC) International Award, Albert Einstein World Award of Science, the 2017 World Cultural Council award, the Fundamental Sciences (Chemistry) award of Kuwait (2017), the 2018 Eni Energy Transition Award, the 2018 BBVA Frontiers of Knowledge Award and Wolf Prize in Chemistry (2018).
He has also received Prince Sultan International Prize for Water (2018), Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences Aminoff Prize (2019), Mohammed Bin Rashid Medal for Scientific Excellence (2019), August Wilhelm von Hofmann Medal (2020), Sustainable Water Award (2020), Gerhard Ertl Lecture Award (2021), AAAFM-Nakamura Award (2021) and VinFuture Special Prize (2021).
According to Mustafa Prize website, Yaghi received the Mustafa Prize for his outstanding contributions in designing and production of classes of compounds known as Metal-organic Frameworks (MOFs), Zeolite Imidazolate Frameworks (ZIFs) and Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs).
Yaghi is known for pioneering the field of network chemistry, or the science of building chemical structures from molecular building blocks.
