Mustafa Prize laureate highlights technology parks as essential hubs for innovation and commercialization during his visit to the (IIID) Iran International Innovation District.
Mustafa Prize Winner: Technology Parks Drive Innovation and Industry Links

Seyed Vahab Mirrokni, computer science researcher and winner of the 6th Mustafa Prize (PBUH), emphasized that technology parks can provide a structured framework for supporting innovative ideas, facilitating commercialization, and fostering scientific collaboration.
Seyed Vahab Mirrokni, computer science researcher and winner of the 6th Mustafa Prize (PBUH), emphasized that technology parks can provide a structured framework for supporting innovative ideas, facilitating commercialization, and fostering scientific collaboration.
During his visit to the (IIID) Iran International Innovation District, Mirrokni underlined the critical role of technology parks in advancing both science and industry. He described these parks not merely as spaces for hosting teams but as platforms enabling idea execution, cross-disciplinary cooperation, and stronger connections with industry.
Mirrokni earned his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Sharif University of Technology (2001) and his Ph.D. in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2005. His research focuses on developing algorithms for big data analysis, with one of his notable works on Locality Sensitive Hashing having been cited over 4,000 times, significantly impacting large-scale data processing.
Following his postdoctoral research at MIT (2005–2006) and Microsoft (2006–2008), Mirrokni served as a faculty member at New York University. Internationally recognized for his contributions to algorithms, including large-scale graph algorithms and locality-sensitive hashing, he was selected as a laureate of the 6th Mustafa Prize (PBUH).
He stressed that technology parks, acting as incubators, can be powerful drivers of innovation commercialization, creating synergy and networking within the innovation ecosystem.
