RSCT Produces Wound Dressing from Maternity Products

The CEO of Royan Stem Cell Technology Company (RSCT), one of the members of Iran International Innovation District, said that the company had produced the first maternity product.

"AMIcare" can be used in the repair and regeneration of tissue, burn, and surgical wounds, Morteza Zarrabi said.

He added that the World Cord Blood Day is aimed at drawing countries' attention to umbilical cord blood, which is a valuable supplement.

Elaborating on the use of stem cells, he said that these cells can be effective in treating various diseases.

Hematopoietic stem cells are used in blood diseases such as blood cancers, thalassemia, immune system defects, etc, he stated.

In addition to bone marrow, peripheral blood, cord mesenchymal cells and tooth pulp are also stored in RSCT, he said.

We also have other cord blood banks, he said adding that there is also the genetic database or HLA which provides the opportunity to find the right sample for transplantation.

We are the only comprehensive bank in the country to store these products together, he stressed.

Today, we have umbilical cord blood samples from neighboring and European countries, he noted.

Zarrabi went on to say that tissues that are thrown away after childbirth are refined in maternity products refinery.
