On October 27, 2026, organizers announced that 20 elite FPV drone teams will compete in the TechOlympics 2026 finals at Pardis Technology Park (PTP) from November 2 to 5.

According to the Iran International Innovation District (IIID) Public Relations Office, the event serves as a rigorous testbed for both piloting skill and hardware engineering, moving beyond mere speed to evaluate comprehensive technical readiness.

Key operational details and strategic highlights include:

  • Rigorous Selection: From over 930 initial applicants, 150 teams advanced to qualifiers. After flight history reviews, specialized training, and simulator evaluations, 20 teams (up to 4 members each) secured their spots in the finals.
  • Scoring Metrics: Performance is weighted 80% on piloting skill and speed, and 20% on technical execution, including drone assembly quality, pre-flight checklists, and safe takeoff/landing procedures on the 400-meter track.
  • Event Schedule: The competition runs daily from 9 AM to 6 PM. Day 1 is dedicated to track familiarization, followed by official record-setting flights, and concluding on Day 4 with a "Freestyle Elite Showcase" and closing ceremony.
  • Future Vision: Mohammad Razavi-Fard, Secretary of the 2026 Drone Event, noted that while past editions focused on swarm technology, this year prioritizes hands-on FPV piloting. This lays the groundwork for future competitions integrating AI-driven autonomous flight systems.

This structured approach underscores the IIID's commitment to bridging practical piloting experience with advanced engineering and autonomous technology development.
