On October 31, 2026, organizers announced that 36 teams will compete in the TechOlympics 2026 IoT finals at the Iran International Innovation District (IIID), focusing on real-world hardware and security challenges.

According to the IIID Public Relations Office, this year's Internet of Things (IoT) competition moves beyond theoretical exams and simulations, requiring participants to solve operational challenges using live equipment and real-time data.

Key operational details and strategic highlights include:

  • Selection Process: From 300 initial registrants who took online assessments on September 30, 2026, 36 teams advanced to the finals: 22 in the Hardware league and 14 in the Security league.
  • Competition Schedule: The Hardware league competes on November 2-3, while the Security league competes on November 3-4, with sessions held in both morning and afternoon shifts.
  • Real-World Infrastructure: The main venue features a smart greenhouse, while participants will also remotely access three operational sites at the Kermanshah Innovation Factory: a 200-square-meter smart greenhouse, a smart telecom/surveillance tower, and a smart home.
  • Educational Support: To prepare participants, organizers provided free, comprehensive video courses on "Introductory IoT" and "Advanced IoT" prior to the competition.

Shiva Mohammadi, Executive Secretary of the IoT competition, emphasized that this format evaluates teams on integrating hardware, networking, and software, managing data traffic, and maintaining system stability under real-world conditions.
