The 6th edition of the Mustafa Prize (PBUH) concluded in Tehran, celebrating three outstanding scientists from Turkey, Iran, and India for groundbreaking achievements in biomedical engineering, information and communication technologies, and sustainable energy.

The Mustafa Prize (PBUH), awarded biennially to researchers whose scientific and technological innovations have a global impact, is widely regarded as the most prestigious award in the Islamic world. Laureates receive the Mustafa Medal, an honorary diploma, and a cash prize of USD 500,000 funded through endowments and philanthropic contributions.

The 2025 laureates include:

  • Prof. Mehmet Toner (Turkey/Harvard University) — honored in Life Sciences and Medical Sciences for developing circulating tumor cell (CTC) detection microchips, enabling early cancer diagnosis and improved treatment monitoring.
  • Prof. Vahab Mirrokni (Iran) — recognized in Information and Communication Science and Technology for his pioneering work on “Proximity-Sensitive Hashing Scheme Based on p-Stable Distributions,” advancing large-scale data search algorithms.
  • Prof. Muhammad Khwaja Naziruddin (India) — awarded in Basic Sciences and Engineering for his research on perovskite solar cells, paving the way for sustainable energy solutions and reducing global fossil fuel dependency.

Alongside the awards ceremony, scientific networking events such as the Science and Technology Exchange Program (STEP) and the Muslim World Science Network (MUST) gathering were held, fostering collaboration among leading researchers.

Since its inception, the Mustafa Prize (PBUH) has been held six times, evolving into a global symbol of scientific excellence in the Islamic world.
