Tehran, Iran – On October 30, Hussein Afshin, Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy, presided over the closing ceremony of the 2025 Technology Olympiad at the Iran International Innovation District (IIID). The four-day competition brought together elite innovators from Iran and 15 other countries to compete across six advanced technology fields, with top teams honoured for their achievements.

The Olympiad’s second edition featured international scope in programming, artificial intelligence, internet of things, cybersecurity, combat robotics, and drones — with finalists from 16 countries. In his remarks, Afshin praised the event’s role in fostering creativity, teamwork, and global cooperation, noting that upgraded infrastructure and better facilities made the 2025 edition “significantly stronger” than its predecessor.

In artificial intelligence, winners emerged in all three tracks: data processing, text processing, and image processing. The drone challenges crowned Horizon UAS, Deuterium, and Shahid Hadi as top teams. Programming competitions saw champions in Python/Django, Golang, front-end, and algorithms categories.

The combat robotics arena awarded gold medals in heavyweight, lightweight, and student leagues, while cybersecurity events — spanning attack-and-defend, hardware CTF, and the high-intensity Flash CTF — highlighted talent from Pakistan and Indonesia among the winners. In the internet of things challenge, teams displayed innovative hardware-software integration at global standards.

Officials described the Olympiad as a showcase of Iran’s technological capabilities and an important international platform for collaboration, stressing plans to expand participation for next year’s edition.
