IIID technology reaches the front lines
IIID Equips Border Guards with 2,000 Heating Kits / A New Shield for Guards Against Severe Cold in Border Areas
Coinciding with the 14th Annual Ceremony to Honor Top Technologists of the Iran International Innovation District (IIID), a batch of smart heating kits produced by a member company was donated to the Border Guard Command. Developed by Royay-e Tose'eh Paydar, an IIID member, these kits are designed to protect Iranian border guards in extreme weather conditions, from the frozen heights of the northwest to the cold, arid eastern frontiers.
During the ceremony, which was attended by Sardar Jalal Setareh, Deputy Commander of the Border Guard, the smart heating kits were officially handed over. The equipment was jointly provided by the IIID headquarters and Royay-e Tose'eh Paydar.
These flexible, printed heating kits are manufactured using conductive nano-ink. When connected to a power source, they can maintain a comfortable temperature of up to 45°C. Key features include providing consistent heat for up to 12 hours when connected to a 20,000 mAh power bank, instantaneous heat generation, and being washable.
According to the agreement, 2,000 border guard uniforms will be equipped with these smart heating kits. Half of these kits are being donated by the IIID, and the other half by Royay-e Tose'eh Paydar as part of its corporate social responsibility. Another IIID member company, Behin Sanaye Sana Energy, has undertaken the supply of the 2,000 required batteries.
Official Statements
Sardar Jalal Setareh highlighted the diverse and harsh climatic conditions across Iran's borders. "Our border guards face sub-zero temperatures in some regions during winter and extreme heat above 30°C in southern areas," he said. "We need lightweight, flexible, and smart clothing that can keep personnel warm and safe during long missions without restricting movement."
Expressing gratitude for the collaboration between the IIID and its tech companies, he added: "Today, a significant part of our border security is ensured by relying on the capabilities of domestic elites and indigenous technology. We hope to see the development of even smarter products for border guards' personal equipment in the near future."
A Response to a National Need
Majtaba Jabbaripour, Deputy Director for Innovation Development at Pardis Technology Park (PTP), referenced the tragic death of a border guard from severe cold months earlier. "Following the martyrdom of Rahim Mojidi, a border guard from Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad who lost his life to cold while protecting Iran's borders, Royay-e Tose'eh Paydar quickly turned an innovative idea into a practical product for our border guards," he stated. "This product can provide stable heating for up to 12 hours in harsh conditions."
Jabbaripour emphasized that this initiative is a clear symbol of the real connection between research, technology, and national security, demonstrating the ability of Iranian knowledge-based companies to rapidly respond to critical national issues.
The smart heating kits are scheduled to be delivered to the Border Guard Force in the coming days, setting a lasting precedent for protecting border guards and deploying Iranian technology in service of national security.
