On December 28, 2025, the Deputy for Technical and Engineering Affairs at Pardis Technology Park announced the rollout of research electricity tariffs for eligible technology and knowledge-based companies at the Iran international innovation district (IIID), a move expected to reduce electricity costs by nearly 30 percent. Hamid KheradNia, Deputy for Technical and Engineering Affairs at Pardis Technology Park, said that following sustained coordination with relevant authorities, technology and knowledge-based companies operating within IIID can now benefit from discounted research electricity tariffs. He noted that electricity plays a critical role in industrial development and the growth of technology-driven businesses, adding that efforts to secure this tariff had been underway for several years. The initiative was ultimately formalized under Article 21 of the Cabinet’s resolution on the establishment of the Iran international innovation district (IIID), which obliges the Ministry of Energy to apply research electricity tariffs to eligible companies. KheradNia explained that although IIID had previously been included in the national electricity tariff regulations, implementation faced operational obstacles. These challenges were resolved through cooperation between the Ministry of Energy, Tehran Province Power Distribution Company, and the Pardis power district, enabling full execution of the policy. He emphasized that the measure was implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and the Vice Presidency for Scientific, Technological and Knowledge-Based Economy Affairs, aiming to incentivize innovation-driven firms, reduce production costs, and promote efficient energy use across the knowledge-based economy. According to KheradNia, not all electricity subscribers within the park qualify for the discounted rate. Only companies that have obtained official technology certification and approval from IIID’s evaluation and supervision authority are eligible. Estimates indicate that qualifying companies can reduce their electricity expenses by up to one-third. He added that, given the high concentration of technology and knowledge-based companies at IIID, strengthening infrastructure and lowering operating costs remain among the park’s top strategic priorities. Eligible companies that have not yet applied are invited to submit a request for tariff adjustment, along with their technology license and latest electricity bill, to the Technical and Engineering Affairs Office.
