Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Emphasizes Support for Domestic Tech at INOTEX 2025
Iranian Technology Takes Priority: Imports Halted for Locally Available Innovations

At INOTEX 2025 on April 30, 2025, Seyed Hamed Ameli, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade for Machinery and Equipment, announced that imports will be banned for any technology confirmed to be available domestically, reinforcing support for Iranian innovation.
During the unveiling of five top technological products at the Pioneers Festival of INOTEX 2025, Seyed Hamed Ameli, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade for Machinery and Equipment, spoke to journalists about the significance of the event. He described the exhibition as a remarkable and valuable effort, showcasing the capabilities of Iran’s technology sector, innovation, and knowledge-based companies.
Ameli emphasized that INOTEX 2025 sends a powerful message: Iran possesses advanced technology and, more importantly, human resources and knowledge-based companies with experts capable of developing these innovations. He added that Iran not only matches global standards but excels, particularly in nurturing a young, elite generation.
He highlighted another key message from the event: the urgent need for serious policy-making and planning to leverage these capacities, which are far ahead of other societal sectors. Ameli warned that without strategic planning to integrate these technologies into industrial development, Iran risks losing these valuable resources, potentially seeing their added value realized elsewhere. He stressed the importance of a strategic approach to utilize these capacities in real industrial sectors, transforming them into national wealth and contributing to GDP.
Ameli outlined the Ministry’s policy to halt import permits for any technology developed domestically. To facilitate this, a platform called “TavanIran” has been established where technologists can register their capabilities. He further noted the close collaboration with the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, stating that if this body confirms the availability of a technology within Iran, no import license will be issued for that product to prioritize domestic solutions.
He concluded by asserting that such planning extends beyond the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, calling for cohesive action across sectors like health, energy, and agriculture to fully harness these significant capacities for the country’s future.
