Mustafa (PBUH) Prize Shows That Many Muslim Scientists Are Not Recognized in World
Russia Today TV channel in a report said that The Mustafa (PBUH) Prize shows that there are many Muslim scientists in the world who have made important achievements in science, but are not recognized with prestigious international awards.
The Mustafa (pbuh) Prize is known as the Nobel Prize of the Islamic world, it said.
The Mustafa (pbuh) Prize honored top Muslim scientists around the world in its 5th biennial ceremony, it added.
During the 5th round of the Mustafa (pbuh) Prize, which was held in Isfahan, the cultural capital of Iran, five scientists were honored for their innovative scientific achievements.
The Mustafa (pbuh) Prize was launched in 2015 with the aim of recognizing the brightest minds in science who have been overlooked by other prizes around the world.
Samia J. Khoury, Professor of the American University of Beirut, Lebanon said: There are many drugs to treat Multiple Sclerosis.
Ahmad Fauzi Ismail, Professor and Vice-chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia said: I was awarded in the Basic Science and Engineering sub-category for the development of membrane technology for various applications.
Compared to the existing membrane system, I developed during the commercial implementation, the cost of operation was reduced by 30-50%, he added.
Ahmed E. Hassan, Professor of Queen's University, Canada, was honored for his achievements in information and communication technology.
Omid C. Farokhzad, Senior Lecturer in Harvard Medical School, USA was one of the winners of the Mustafa (pbuh) Prize in the field of biological and medical science and technology with his research in the field of Design, Development, and Clinical Translation of Novel Polymeric Nanomedicines.
Murat Uysal, Professor of New York University Abu Dhabi, UAE was awarded the Mustafa (pbuh) Prize in Information Technology for his work in the field of Optical Wireless Communication (OWC) Technology.
Mostafa (pbuh) Prize winners were selected from among 2,600 candidates all around the world.
Organizers say the selection process was very rigorous and took months.
They say that this award only deals with works and developments that push the boundaries of science and technology.
