Heavyweight combat robots take the stage at the 2025 Technology Olympiad.
60-Kilogram Combat Robots Launch into Battle on Day Three of 2025 Technology Olympiad
Tehran, Iran – The heavyweight division of the combat robotics competition at the 2025 Technology Olympiad is set to thrill spectators today, as four massive robots weighing up to 65 kilograms clash in displays of power, precision, and engineering mastery.
Following two days of lightweight and student league contests, the spotlight now turns to the heavyweight division, where teams of six to seven members bring their most advanced designs to the arena. Each robot adheres to strict specifications of 1m³ maximum dimensions and a weight limit of 65 kilograms, ensuring a fair and technically demanding competition.
The daily format includes morning briefings and random draws to familiarize teams with rules and technical conditions, fostering transparency and preparedness. In the student league, robots weighing up to 15 kilograms and measuring 50 cm by 50 cm demonstrate ingenuity and teamwork, supported by an advisor to guide younger participants.
Over 23 student teams have competed in 15 matches so far, with remaining rounds today deciding semi-final and final contenders. In contrast, the heavyweight league allows only two team members at ringside for control, prioritizing focus and safety.
This year’s combat robotics at the Technology Olympiad not only tests mechanical design and tactical execution, but also reflects Iran’s growing culture of innovation and engineering excellence.
